Gaia Wall System
2025

After more than 20 years, the building owners decided that it's time to gift one of KL's oldest green walls a facelift. While researching and creating a proposal for this project, team Belalang conducted site surveys and determined that some of the existing elements such as water tap points, steel-frames, etc. can be utilized even though the old system which is now clogged and overstayed its lifespan had to go.
Considerations were given to the low-light conditions of certain areas while also taking into account the accessibility for future maintenance. With this in mind, the final product came with a combination of solutions to suit each area which were part of the upgrading works- growth lights for darker corner of the LG soil planters/green walls, straightforward replacement of the old system with GMS green walls, and faux planting at hard-to-reach upper parts of the 2 large green pillars.
To ensure installation safety standards are met, the entire project team underwent a Working At Height training (refresher for those who had done it before). External scaffolders were also engaged by us to ensure the required aluminium formwork were erected & maintained at site during installation. Lastly, it was imperative that we observed the existing "house rules" which were in place due to it being a public area that receives high foot traffic during lunchtimes. Despite some challenges, the team pulled through and delivered the project on time, right before the Christmas deadline!
